Bakhchisaray means palace in the gardens since the late XIV century. In the XV century. became the capital of the Crimean Khanate. Khan Mengli-weight long struggled with the Golden Horde Khanate for the independence of the rat. In 1502 the Golden Horde finally collapsed, and in 1503, Khan-Giray Mengli built a palace on the left bank of the river Tchuruk-su.
